An explosion in a mine traps 58 workers in central China.

Beijing, June 21 .- An explosion in a coal mine in Henan province (central China) caught early this morning left at least 58 workers, reported the official news agency Xinhua.

The explosion, whose cause is still unknown, occurred in the deposition of explosives from the mine Xingdong Weidong district number two in the city of Pingdingshan to 01.40 local time (1740 GMT), according to the, sto credits, State Administration of Work Safety.

Two rescue teams were sent to the site to begin rescue efforts.

With nearly 10,000 deaths a year, China recorded the death rate of workplace accidents highest in the world, mostly concentrated in coal mining because of lack of security measures and the state obsolete plant.
