The prosecutor dropped the surveillance case. First prosecutor Jrn Maurud by the public prosecutor in Oslo believes the investigation to the police has shown that it can not be proved that the monitors have done nothing illegal.
- Monitoring activities are affected not by the Norwegian state regulations, said Maurud to VG Nett.
It was the NRK as first reported the news that the case is dropped.

It was the TV 2, which revealed the case that the U.S. authorities for several years had watched the Norwegians, with the help of former police and dnse people in Norway.

Monitoring Group has held in a building a few hundred meters west of the American Embassy in Oslo. There should have been monitoring 24 hours a day since since the spring of 2000.
